You are watching: Remington fieldmaster model 121 serial numbers

I am looking for some confirmation on the age of a rifle. I have my grandfathers rem fieldmaster 121 pump 22. The barrel looks like it has the letters E and F stamped on it. The serial number is 13###. If I looked at the table on remington owners correctly, this may date it to October 1937. Could anyone verify that for me? The rifle has been well used but it still shoots like a brand new one. Thanks in advance. Dan
Remington Society of America - questions/barrelcodesLooks correct to me...the Fieldmaster 121 was produced from 1936 until "54, so the other possibilities would be beyond it"s production range.Roe

Thanks for the confirmation. The rifle is old, the finish is very worn, and the barrel has some small rust spots on it. It shoots great. Accurate. I will never change a thing on that rifle. Great memory of my grandpa.
Look for two letters ahead of the receiver on the left side of barrel. Look at the chart for dating Rems. First letter is the month second is the year. Put the letters on here and I will tell you the month and year. Remington used the word BLACKPOWDERX for the 12 months and second letter is on the date charts on rimfire central. Was a good way to date production.
I got kinda bumfuzzled trying to find it but I believe the E is the month code and it would be Sept and the F is the year which is 1936. I joined Remington Society of America and it gave a very specific way to determine what year your Rem was built but after viewing it I could not find the same page again but I think this is correct.

Once again, allow me to direct you to the following link:Remington Society of America - questions/barrelcodesE = OctoberF, in this case = 1937 According to the chart, F could also date to 1959 or 1985, but since the Fieldmaster 121 was only made between the years of 1936 to 1954...as I mentioned in my first post to this thread...those years would be an impossibility.Roe
