I understand that the 1995-2000? 4.6L Northstar engines are often called crap and also are notorious for blowing head gaskets and really $$$$ to repair, however I think that the 4.9L (last provided in 1995) was a great engine? dont hear too many poor things around them. Starting in 1995 (maybe 94), the northstar was optional in the DeVille, traditional in 1996. I found a 1994 Cadillac Sedan DeVille with the 4.9L (non-northstar) that i am kinda interested in and really wonder if anyone here had one/has one and can comment on them. Ns think the 90-93 Cadillacs also had the 4.9L. Thanks.
Oh, did girlfriend grow worn down of the town Car currently

?Anyway, I have actually heard a many of poor things about the HT engine, however mostly around the previously 4.1 l version. Climate they came to be 4.5L ,and finally the 4.9 L. Through this time, it seems to have become a good and reputable engine, if no that powerful. Good luck ~ above your following purchase.
The 4.1 was really problematic, at one point Cadillac was supplying to replace it v the 4.5 at price (so one Cadillac owner called me who had allegedly had the transplant).I"ve owned two 4.9s and they are very reliable, just don"t permit them obtain hot. They space a little more an overwhelming and expensive to work on but hey, if you desire something cheap and also easy to buy a Hyundai.
I have actually heard the 4.9"s to be reliable. I have driven one of those small early 90"s Devilles powered by among them and also was in reality a tiny surprised at just how well it could scoot the vehicle around. It was smooth and also responsive.
